August 2025 Prayer Targets

Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4

For the Body of Christ, we pray:

  • For those who are battle-weary with various sources of pain, disappointments, difficult relationships, etc, we pray for humility to help us trust and rejoice in God's purposes to grow our faith and Christ-likeness.

  • For our persecuted Christian brothers and sisters, we pray for Holy Spirit empowerment to stand with Christ in the face of violence and loss. May God's presence uphold them and meet their needs. We ask for supernatural conviction to come upon their persecutors for repentance and salvation.

  • For our missionaries serving around the world, we pray for protection over their health and spirits, guidance in developing strategic relationships, and wisdom to navigate the challenges of cultural differences. We pray for their faith to grow, for their families to thrive, and for Christ's love to draw many to Himself through their sacrificial lives.

Oregon and our local communities:

  • For Oregon Right to Life, presenting their educational exhibits at this month's county fairs and the Oregon State Fair, August 22 through September 1. We pray for life-affirming conversations and decisions to result from seeing the truths of human development. May hearts be softened and eyes opened to the beauty of God's handiwork.

  • For our state government leaders, we pray they seek God's wisdom and decide through Holy Spirit conviction to act in the best interest of taxpayers to responsibly fund ODOT without raising taxes, avoiding an expensive special session currently set for August 29.

  • For the fire suppression crews working both on the ground and in the air. May they be well-staffed, effectively coordinated, and equipped for every challenge. We ask God’s protection over their safety and endurance as they labor tirelessly to preserve lives, land, and communities.

  • For our Law Enforcement teams (Chiefs of Police, County Sheriffs and Deputies, Oregon State Police, detectives, and undercover agents), we pray divine protection and enabling to deal justly with criminal activity and to root out sources of illicit materials and intercept their distribution.

  • For God's presence and blessing over ONE Sweet Home's Community Prayer & Worship, happening August 10th from 6:00–7:30 pm at Riverside Christian Church. May the Holy Spirit unite our community, inspire authentic worship, and ignite heartfelt prayers. May this gathering deepen relationships, strengthen our faith, and empower us to reflect Christ’s love throughout Sweet Home.

  • For God's blessing upon Albany’s Worship in the Park, a community gathering on August 21st at 7:00 pm at Monteith River Park. May the Holy Spirit stir hearts toward Christ, drawing many to salvation and discipleship. May our unified voices in worship deepen our love and strengthen our unity as one body in Him.

For Mid-Valley Women of Christ:

  • For our upcoming “Going Beyond” Simulcast with Priscilla Shirer, August 23, 2025, at Lebanon First Assembly, we ask Holy Spirit oversight for all the details and blessings for all attending to connect with Him and with one another deeply. Find details and register for this event here. www.midvalleywomenofchrist.org/simulcast

  • We are excited to offer "Esther, Daring Faith for Such a Time as This" by Kelly Minter, a 7-week Bible Study that will help us discover how Esther’s story inspires us to live faithfully and courageously in our own time. Classes begin the week of September 22, 2025.

  • We are thankful for the many churches that are planning to open their doors to women of their community. We ask God to provide study coordinators and prepare women's schedules to attend, and to give them hearts to connect.
